COBRA Subsidy Signed into Law
The economic stimulus bill officially
referred to as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
was signed into law on February
17th, 2009 by President Obama. ARRA contains Federal premium
assistance for COBRA premiums of
certain eligible individuals. Employers must quickly prepare for an
increase in the number of COBRA elections and new COBRA notice
requirements. The premium assistance will be available to
eligible individuals beginning with coverage periods starting after February 17th,
2009, so employers have very little time to prepare for the
administrative changes necessary to comply with the new rules.

Comprehensive Employer Guide to the COBRA Premium Assistance Rules
The KnowCOBRA.com guide to the COBRA Premium Assistance
Rules is more than simply a collection of official documents already
available free from government websites, and at only $39, the guide is a fraction
of the cost of other COBRA guides and manuals. Written by Bob Radecki, the
founder and former President of A.E. Roberts Company, the guide spells out in
clear and simple terms what an employer needs to understand the new rules
whether they use a COBRA administrator or not.
